REAL PEOPLE REAL ANSWERS EDITION 9

A DAY IN THE LIFE

“Living Naturally You”

Real People Real Answers

 What’s your name?

Brandi Marie Kissel
 How old are you?

I am 24 years old.
 Where are you from?

I grew up in a small town in Vermont but live in Southern Florida now.

 What is your occupation?

I work at a Water Treatment Plant, real glamorous!

 How would you describe yourself?

I have always been someone who stands out and kinda does my own thing. Unique maybe?

When did you first decide to become natural?

I've been natural since the day I was born. No chemicals have touched my hair and NEVER will.
If there was one word to describe your style what would it be?

If I like something, I wear it. Anything! I just try to be as ME as I can be.
Who are some people that inspire you the most?

My mother has always been the person who told me to be myself and she's the main reason I have basically had an afro since I was a kid. Growing up as a mixed child, I never really "fit" in. So she made sure I knew I was special and to just be me.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I have no plans to grow up!

What advice would you give to others who wanted to go natural or live a more natural based lifestyle?

There really is nothing better that a woman can do for herself I think. I mean I am not a "hair role model" but I hope that me always being natural might inspire more to do it!
 What’s your favorite quote?

I am my hair and my hair is awesome!

HOME REMEDIES FOR A SUMMER COLD.. YEP SUMMER COLDS SUCK!!! YEP I SAID IT!!

Since I have been blessed with a total of TWO wonderful summer colds. I thought it may be fitting to find some relief that can help us all fight the battle of the summer sniffles. I have a couple of natural herbs that have helped me after about 3 days...and general this that can everyone listed below:)!!

1)

Humidifier

If you live in a dry climate, the dryness of the air, coupled with a bad summer cold, can leave your throat feeling raw and sore. Placing a humidifier in your bedroom at night can help moisturize the air and give you better sleep at night.

2)

Fluids

Fluids are an important part of any cold remedy, but it's especially important to stay hydrated when you're suffering from a summer cold. The heat and dryness can deplete your body of moisture, so make sure to drink enough water, juice or sports drinks to feel better.

3)

Vitamin C and ZINC

Vitamin C has long been utilized as a natural remedy for cold symptoms, and is thought to help shorten the length of the common cold. Through the summer months, you can easily get the vitamin C from the various fruits and vegetables that are in season. Zinc has also said to help shorten the duration of the common cold.

4)
NATURAL HERBS

Echinacea , Licorice root and Fungreek ( all found at your local vitamin store) Have been said to help with many respiratory infections .

SO for all you summer cold suffers like me here are some things that may help ease the summer cold blues:)
